I’m half Korean and knowing how to make good sticky white rice is in my blood. Sticky rice, which is not made with regular white rice, is served with almost every Korean dish breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don’t have a rice maker as they can be extremely expensive but I know how to make rice just as well on the stove top.
Stove Top Sticky Rice
2 cups of white sushi rice. (I’m using Han Kuk Mi rice from a local Asian store but you can get some here from Walmart.)
3½ cups of water.
Into a pot, measure out 2 cups of rice.
Pour 3½ cups of water over rice.
Let rice sit for 30 minutes.
Bring rice to boil.
Bring heat down to medium low, cover but crack the lid to steam. Cook for 15 minutes.
Remove from heat. Cover completely and let sit for 10 minutes.
Stir and serve.
